Clinical Supervision
Supervision for queer therapists living and working within queer community.
My Journey to Supervision
I have been a queer, nonmonogamous, and kinky relationship therapist and small business owner for almost a decade, and I know how hard it can be to find supervisors and group supervision spaces where the intersections of your work are deeply understood. That’s why I began hosting my first peer group in early 2024: the Beyond the Norm Counsellor Cafe. Beyond the Norm is a place for colleagues to cultivate a deeper understanding of the intricacies involved in working with clients in non-traditional relationship dynamics. Folks also talk about their challenges running a small business, share career triumphs and wins, and muddle through imposter syndrome and screw-ups while being held in community accountability.
As a counsellor who is also deeply embedded in the queer community, I believe in the importance of being an active participant in the vibrant world we share with our clients. This means navigating shared space with clients in anti-oppressive ways that dismantle power and preserve ethics and care. In the growing precariousness of queer community spaces, learning to live alongside our clients is more important than ever.
I’ve combined this into offerings of individual and group supervision for licensed and pre-licensed therapists working with the queer, nonmonogamous, and kinky community.
Finally, a space where you can show up in the fullness of who you are as a therapist and be met with meaningful support and active challenge to foster growth and remain grounded in ethical commitments. By integrating anti-oppressive and feminist models, supervision supports therapists in becoming not only more skilled, but also more accountable and aligned with their values. Incorporating deliberate practice offers tools for translating these values into effective clinical practice.
If you’re interested in supervision that centers queer and justice-oriented practice, makes space for both your clinical work with clients and your identity work as a therapist, and recognizes that your life outside of work is integral to how you show up in therapy and not separate from it, book a consult with me today.
